Website Disclaimer: Well, like the cobbler with no shoes, I'm a software engineer with a kinda lame personal website. I'm generally too busy programming to put much time into my own website so this is whatever I had time to throw together one day on a whim.

Geeking Out...
I'm not at all embarrassed to call myself a geek so allow me to geek out here for just a moment. This website is just one of my experiments. In this case, I was trying to build something super-simple that AJAX'd in all of the site content without ever reloading the page. I haven't done extensive cross-browser testing so results may vary, but I did implement some progressive enhancement so that everyone should be able to access the basic content and search engines could index the site.

Click a menu link and the only thing that changes is the contents of this box. I used the Coldfusion language in a Fusebox Framework and the jQuery JavaScript library. The whole site, including pictures and fusebox core files is less then 2MB.

I've always been kind of a minimalist in design, but like to provide lots of options too. It's generally a difficult line to walk. The menu is plain text, but simple and hopefully clear. The content is just the bare minimum and if I ever get to it I will probably put an indexed and searchable blog on this page that could provide an endless amount of content within this simple framework. Then I'd just have to figure out what I would blog about.

Sculpture...
I'm really a sculptor at heart. I like to whittle things down to their essence. When I build from wood I tend to spend much more time carving, sanding and finishing than I do building.

Life...
I haven't put a lot of thought into it, but I'd have to say I'm also a sculptor of life or at least how to understand it. I try to break situations down to their essence as a way to understand them. Life can get complicated and is always changing so one of my favorite sayings is, "The only thing for sure in life is change." I think everything is driven by a competition for some resource, whether it's love, money, respect, peace of mind or something else. If you understand someone's motivations then everything else they do makes more sense.

Time...
Okay, This is the thing about time. You can ponder the past and plan for the future, but be careful that you don't spend too much time on these endeavors. You have absolutely no power over the past and the only power you have over the future, is not your plans for it, but your actions in the present.
